History

In the late summer of 2006 Jerry Prussin and Norah Johnson purchased the old Bank of Hamilton building on Commercial street in the Cedar Cottage neighbourhood of Vancouver. Here are a few photos, taken around 1905, which show the original building (complete with period dress). Restoration was done by their friends Chris Jordan-Knox and Blue West Contractors and expanded from some minor repairs to a whole face-lift, inside and out. I think this location is where they filmed some of The X-Files: Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose (for the tarot shop and palm reader shop). According to the book X Marks the Spot, the location used to be an artist's studio (this was around late 1995). Great photos!

Oh cool! I'd like to check that book out. Did you know that it is supposedly the site of the first bank robbery in Vancouver?

This place looks amazing, how do I get in touch with the owners to rent a suite?

Thanks! I'm afraid all of the residential suites are rented. But there is a lovely commercial spot available...flower shop, book store, yoga studio?...
